The article critically analyzes the multiple forms of the density distribution of the immi-grants in Genoa. Through specific socio-spatial mappings, a highly uneven distribution emerges, concentrated in areas with high levels of socio-economic decay and inequality. The elaboration of further indicators led to hypothesize the existence of two main settlement mod-els and community cores for the first ten settled communities (with a focus on the Ecuadorian one), linked both to economic factors and to the respective identity cultures of origin. Further-more, the research fits into the framework of case studies on the migratory phenomenon in Italy, contributing to the construction of a capillary mapping at a national level.
