Introducing intersectionality into antidiscrimination law and equality policies in Spain : competing frameworks and differentiated prospects
169-190 p.
- This work aims at offering an overview of intersectionality studies in Spain, taking into consideration different disciplinary areas and, as far as possible, also the elaborations proceeding from social activism. Although the discourse on intersectionality arrived in Spain only in the second half of the 2000s, Spanish or Spain-based scholars have contributed significantly to the European debate. This article systematises variations in the use of intersectionality across different disciplinary contexts, in particular it discusses uses of intersectionality in studies on non-normative sexualities, in sociology and political sciences, and in legal studies, with a specific focus on critical antidiscrimination theory. This overview aims at highlighting competing frameworks for understanding questions of intersectionality in public policy. [Publisher's Text].
