I vulnerabili restauri del Novecento : la Rocca di Arquata del Tronto e il suo recupero

  • La Rocca di Arquata del Tronto è una fabbrica pluristratificata, la cui esistenza sarebbe attestata dal xiii secolo. Cessata da tempo la sua funzione militare e ormai ridotta a rudere, a partire dall'inizio del xx secolo, è stata oggetto di restauri volti a ridefinirne l'immagine, trasformandola in simbolo identitario della comunità arquatana. Gli eventi sismici del 2016 hanno messo in evidenza le vulnerabilità indotte da scelte non sufficientemente consapevoli dei temi della durabilità e del comportamento sismico, e da restauri sospesi e mai completati. L'articolo, dopo una ricostruzione storica degli interventi novecenteschi, evidenzia i fattori di vulnerabilità che hanno indotto i numerosi danni e identifica alcuni aspetti su cui dovrà prioritariamente concentrarsi il progetto di restauro.   • The Stronghold of Arquata del Tronto is a multilayered building, the existence of which is attested since the thirteenth century. Its military function ceased for centuries. Reduced to ruins, starting from the beginning of the twentieth century, it has been the subject of restorations aimed at redefining its image, transforming it into an identity symbol of the people of Arquata. The seismic events of 2016 highlighted the vulnerabilities induced by works not sufficiently aware of the issues of durability and seismic behaviour, often suspended and never completed. The article, after a historical reconstruction of the twentieth century interventions, highlights the vulnerability factors that led to the numerous damages and identifies some aspects on which the restoration project must focus.
