Sul materiale preparatorio per la Storia d'Italia : varietà testuali e relazioni codicologiche
P. 3-34
The aim of this essay is to offer a preliminary analysis of the documentation used by Francesco Guicciardini as preparatory material for his Storia d'Italia. These notes are essential for identifying the numerous textual debts which the Florentine historian contracted with his sources and concealed within the pages of his monumental work. This study is the result of the recent digitization and cataloguing of the papers preserved in the Guicciardini Archive in Florence. Following a brief overview of the ongoing project – carried out through a collaboration between the University of Liège and the Galileo Museum in Florence – the essay offers a detailed description of Guicciardini's excerpts, focusing both on their material features and on their documentary variety.
