Julius Sirenius's Criticism of Pietro Pomponazzi's Defense of Stoic Determinism

- In his De fato (published in 1563), Julius Sirenius strongly criticizes Pomponazzi's arguments in favor of Stoic determinism. Following Alexander of Aphrodisias, Sirenius defends the idea that the essence of human beings expresses itself in human freedom. Remarkably, his incompatibilist interpretation of Pomponazzi's fatalism goes hand in hand with his own theological compatibilism. [Publisher's text].
- Nel suo De fato (pubblicato nel 1563), Giulio Sirenio critica severamente gli argomenti proposti dal Pomponazzi in favore del determinismo stoico. Seguendo Alessandro di Afrodisia, Sirenio difende la tesi secondo cui l'essenza dell'uomo si manifesta nella libertà umana. La sua interpretazione incompatibilistica del fatalismo pomponazziano è accompagnata da un compatibilismo teologico. [Testo dell'editore].
