Environmental Stressors and Wildlife Health: Impacts on Birds and Mammals

This book,Environmental Stressors and Wildlife Health: Impacts on Birds and Mammals, synthesises global data and information on birds and mammals (with an emphasis on marine birds and marine mammals). The impacts of two legacy pollutants (Hg, DDT) and two emerging pollutants (Plastics and Climate change/CO2) on birds and mammals were collected, collated, analysed, interpreted, and synthesised. It documented the location/ country and continent-wide (Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America) species impacted by pollution. The impacts of pollutants are assessed in light of taxonomy, species affected, feeding habits, concentration detected, location/country, sex, age, IUCN conservation status, the toxic threshold value and sub-lethal and lethal effects. This book reveals that Hg, DDT, plastics and climate change (CO2) have impacted and will impact birds and mammals across the seven continents
