The essay reexamines the Attic Stelai (IG I3 421-430) from a perspective other than examining the prices of confiscated and sold assets. An attempt is made to understand the relationship between the formal and institutional aspect of the documents and the complex economic reality of assets confiscated from Metics and Athenian citizens in 415/4 BCE.
