ABOUT THE WORK Francisco A. Marcos is a master of language whose professional focus is the science of linguistics. In this book he turns to poetry in its double aspect as experience of language and expression of the heart. He believes in words and uses them for all they are worth, at times leaving them to their own devices. Yet he knows that behind words feeling beats like an anguished heart. Clearly, this is not an easy work, nor a simple matter of rhetorical ability. It is a meditative and complex book that will astonish by the sensuality of its poems and the power of the images it evokes. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Francisco A. Marcos was born in Madrid in 1946. He started publishing his poetry in the review Caracola at the invitation of Leopoldo de Luis. His poems have also appeared in the review Papeles de Son Armadans edited by Camilo José Cela. He has been active in poetry circles in various countries and has participated in several broadcasts produced by Argentinian national radio. He has taught linguistics in universities throughout the world.
