  • The Nordic countries offer an interesting and still little explored case study on the Vitruvian studies in a context that has shown in the past extraordinary energies in bridging the gap with antiquity and a particular at traction for Mediterranean culture. The Centro Studi Vitruviani aims to retrace the interest for Vitruvius and its treatise through seminars and conversations and the publication of of essays by the main Vitruvian scholars of the Nordic countries, thus following the traces of the editions of De Architectura.
  • We introduce the topic with a first review of the tran slations of De Architectura, which reveals the com plexity of these works, between the philological transla tion of the text and its interpretation that requires skills in archeology, art and architecture. The long path that is undertaken is often accompanied by critical texts published in specialized magazine. [Publisher's text]
