Inenarrabile : per una poetica del silenzio

  • Il valore del venire al linguaggio forse non sta solo nella produzione effettiva di una narrazione, ma anche nell'attesa, nella predisposizione, in quel tempo perifrastico attivo il cui senso è nella sua esistenza in sé, nella sua durata, e in quello che produce non diventando narrazione esplicita. Quel valore trova una sua definizione forse ancora più precipua non solo nel fatto che chi non narra a un altro ha l'importante opportunità di narrare a se stesso, ma anche nell'astensione dal risolvere in una narrazione l'infanzia di un sentimento, la profondità di un sentire. Se l'uso estetico del linguaggio, nella struttura di legame con gli altri, emerge dalla pausa che interviene tra la cosa e la sua nominazione, può esserci un oggetto senza nominazione, la cui funzione di lievito interiore sta proprio nell'astensione dalla sua narrazione.
  • Se le parole ci mettono in condizione di creare e di fare, conferiscono libertà ma anche vincoli: l'universo infinito da cui provengono, non il silenzio ma il non dire, ha uno statuto che merita maggiore considerazione. Prima di tutto perché il non dire da parte di ognuno è sempre un già detto a se stesso. E spesso la sua efficacia può essere più elevata per chi si astiene, di quella che sarebbe parlando. Inenarrabile, perciò, non è solo quello che per sue caratteristiche non si riesce a dire con le parole, ma anche quello che assume un potere trasformativo proprio in quanto non accede ad espressione manifesta e condivisa con altri.   • Unspeakable. The value of coming to language, perhaps, lies not only in the actual production of a narrative, but also in the expectation, in the predisposition, in that active peripheral time whose meaning is in its existence in itself, in its duration, and in that which produces not becoming an explicit narrative. That value finds its own definition, perhaps even more specific, not only in the fact that who do not tell another have the important opportunity to narrate to themselves, but also to abstain from resolving the infancy of a feeling in a narrative, the depth of a feeling. If the aesthetic use of language, in the structure of connection with others, emerges from the pause that intervenes between the thing and its name, there may be an object without a name, whose function of inner leavening lies precisely in the abstention from its narration. If words enable us to create and do, they give freedom but also constraints:
  • the infinite universe from which they come, not silence but not saying, has a status that deserves greater consideration. First of all because not everyone's saying is always a saying to himself. And often its effectiveness can be higher for those who abstain, than they would be. Unspeakable, therefore, it is not only that which by its characteristics it is not possible to say with words, but also that which assumes a transformative power precisely because it does not access to manifest and shared expression with others.
