L'Unione Europea a una svolta : welfare sociale o know how militare?

  • L'articolo mira ad evidenziare, accanto alle notevoli diversità di welfare esistenti in Eu-ropa e ai limiti intrinseci del PEDS (Pilastro Europeo dei Diritti Sociali), la contraddittorietà dei gravosi impegni assunti dall'Unione Europea sul duplice fronte della tutela dei diritti sociali e della ricerca in campo militare. Vista l'esiguità del proprio bilancio, l'Unione - oggi molto attiva con PESCO, PSDC, EI2 (European Intervention Initiative) e EDF (European Defence Fund) - è a una svolta e, se non incrementa il proprio bilancio, dovrà scegliere fra 'welfare sociale' o 'know how' militare. Se punta sul secondo rischia di perdere la sua 'anima' ed accentuare la distanza dai popoli europei, sempre più in crisi economica ed euro-scettici. [Testo dell'editore].
  • The European Union has taken numerous significant commitments to the protection of social rights and, simultaneously, to military research: PESCO, PSDC, EI2 (European Intervention Initiative) e EDF (European Defence Fund). The aim of this article is to highlight the contradictory nature of these commitments, coupled with showing the differences of welfare systems in Europe and the limits of The European Pillar of Social Rights. This leads to a turning point for the European Union, due to its limited budget: 'social welfare' or military 'know-how'. Leaning to the latter it risks to distance itself irremediably from its core princi-ples and from the Europeans, always more suffering the economic crisis and, consequently, always more Eurosceptic.
