Tutela del paesaggio e sviluppo del turismo balneare e termale: una proposta urbanistica e architettonica di Alberto Calza Bini per Ischia (1938)
P. 51-62
This article analyses a urban planning project for Ischia in 1938 commissioned to Alberto Calza Bini (1881-1957) by the Committee promoting the “Raduno degli urbanisti” in Sicily in 1938. The proposal presents several elements of interest. First of all, it anticipates the aims and principles of the Territorial Landscape Plan of Ischia signed by Calza Bini himself (1941-1943), among the first ever to be approved in Italy. Then it postulates the possibility of reconciling, in contexts of considerable potential for the development of both élite and mass tourism, the primary instance of the preservation of the beauty of landscape with the reasons of tourism entrepreneurship. Finally, this plan does not only exhibit a merely technical-urban planning character, but is accompanied by the projects of each of the planned architecures, thus clearly aiming to weld together urban planning and architecture [Publisher's text].
