Dalla teoria del significato alla teoria dell'azione

This paper critically discusses the analytical philosophical tradition onmeaning in relation to action theory, focusing specifically on the relationshipbetween philosophy of language, philosophy of mind and the explanation theory of behaviour. Starting from Ludwig Wittgenstein's analysis of the meaning ofmentalist terms and subsequent studies on grammatical reflection on action,this paper will demonstrate that the theory of meaning constitutes the link between philosophy of language and action theory. It will also identify the similarity between the logical analysis of belief statements and action statements inthe framework of anticausalist and causalist models of action explanation.
