  • The Hungarian government is continuing its crackdown on academic freedom. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences is subject to a structural reorganization, whose effects on the Hungarian academic community are disruptive. If the changes envisaged in the governmental plans are implemented, Hungary might become the first member state of the European Union to reject the fundamental principle of academic freedom.
