  • The author explores the relationship between "trauma" and the onset of panic attacks. Through the therapeutic experience with two patients it is outlined how a psychological crisis may be expressed during significant times of transition by the feeling of panic. The concept of "trauma" is explored in its different connotations within the psychoanalytic literature. In particular, the author reflects on the idea of an early "trumatic experience of relationships", which is often encountered in the life history of patients who suffer from panic attacks.
