  • A partire dai primi anni del nuovo secolo, l'Italia è stata caratterizzata da una serie di eventi economici e mutamenti demografici che hanno profondamente cambiato il potere d'acquisto delle famiglie così come i loro comportamenti di spesa. Questi eventi hanno por tato a un calo della spesa media familiare in termini reali di circa 20 punti percentuali tra il 2000 e il 2019, seguiti da un ulteriore consistente calo nel 20202021, oltre che a una ri composizione delle spese nelle diverse categorie merceologiche. Tuttavia, i comportamenti di consumo del biennio 20202021 sono stati fondamentalmente determinati dall'emergenza sanitaria e dalle restrizioni messe in atto per fronteggiarla ed è ancora pre sto per capire se e in quale misura i cambiamenti del biennio diventeranno strutturali.
  • Nella cornice di questo generale calo di spesa per consumo delle famiglie, persistono le rilevanti differenze territoriali che caratterizzano il nostro Paese, da far risalire a differenti condizioni reddituali e patrimoniali, stili di vita e culturali differenti, livelli di prezzi diversi etc., ma che sembrano in leggera attenuazione negli anni più recenti.   • Since the early years of the new century, Italy has been characterized by a series of eco nomic events and demographic shifts that have profoundly changed the purchasing power of households as well as their spending behaviour. These events have led to a decline in average household expenditures in real terms of about 20 percentage points between 2000 and 2019, followed by a further substantial decline in 20202021, as well as a re composition of the budget in different categories of goods and services. However, con sumption behaviour in the 20202021 biennium was fundamentally driven by the Covid emergency and the restrictions put in place to face it, and it is still early to understand whether and to what extent the changes in the biennium will become structural.
  • Within this general decline in household consumption spending, the significant territorial differences that characterize our Country persist, which can be traced back to different income and asset conditions, different lifestyles and cultures, different price levels etc., but which seem to be slightly diminishing in the more recent years.
