  • L'accesso all'higher education da parte di studenti con background migratorio è uno dei temi di maggior rilievo per la sociologia dell'educazione in Italia e all'estero, proprio a fronte dell'aumento della presenza di questi ragazzi e ragazze all'interno degli Atenei. Sebbene la scelta di intraprendere un percorso universitario si configuri come un elemento di successo sia in termini personali, sia rispetto al funzionamento di un sistema formativo che ancora oggi in Italia appare caratterizzato da importanti disuguaglianze soprattutto legate alle origini sociali, l'università rappresenta una tra le tappe all'interno delle biografie di vita di questi giovani che si trovano a fare i conti con le proprie origini e l'integrazione nel conte-sto sociale.
  • Attraverso una ricerca qualitativa che ha coinvolto 30 studenti con una storia di migrazione, si è cercato di comprendere quali fossero i fattori che hanno concorso nella scelta di intraprendere un percorso universitario. Il quadro che emerge dalle interviste porta in primo piano il ruolo della famiglia ed in particolare delle figure genitoriali che si configurano promotrici di un'idea di istruzione a lungo termine, nonché elemento di supporto motivazionale ed economico.   • Access to higher education by students with a migration background is one of the most important issues for the sociology of education in Italy and abroad, precisely in the face of the increase in the presence of these boys and girls within universities. Although the choice to embark on a university course is a success story in personal terms, both with regard to the functioning of a training system that still today in Italy appears characterized by major inequalities especially related to social origins, the university is one of the milestones in the life biographies of these young people who find themselves dealing with their origins and integration into the social context.
  • Through a qualitative research that involved 30 students with a history of migration, attempts have been made, to understand what were the factors that competed in the choice to undertake a university course. The picture that emerges from the interviews brings to the fore the role of the family and in particular of the parental figures who are the promoters of an idea of long-term education, as well as an element of motivational and economic support.
