La misura del lavoro : una questione politica
11-30 p.
The paper analyses the role of knowledge-construction processes in collective decision-making regarding the regulation and allocation of work. It highlights the crucial importance of these processes within the interdependent relationship between work, citizenship and democratic participation. Firstly, the paper reconstructs the link between work and democracy, emphasising the centrality of work in forming democratic citizenship. The main section then examines the relationship between work and knowledge, focusing on quantification processes and the resulting percep-tual, organisational and political distortions. It then proposes an interpretative frame-work to better understand the shift from the descriptive to the prescriptive function of measurement tools, and their effects on the governance of work. After offering reflections on reconnecting work, knowledge and democracy, the paper concludes with a brief overview of the essays in the Special Issue. [Publisher's text]
