Naquane, Grande Roccia, un modello per la valorizzazione e per lo studio

2022 - Istituto italiano di preistoria e protostoria

P. 795-805

  • The Great Rock of Naquane, discovered at the end of 1931-beginning of 1932 and populated by over 2 thousand engraved figures, is the most important of the Naquane Rock Art National Park and one of the most relevant of the whole Valcamonica. In order to enhance it, an immersive virtual model was created, into the frame of the actions to promote the Park, also using modern technologies. The model was performed together with the complete documentation of the entire engraved surface, including tracing and zenithal gigaphotos; it is possible to navigate over the model on the web, even on smartphones; thanks to the highest resolution and accuracy it offers to visitors and scholars a vision similar to the autoptic one, in some ways even more accurate than in reality.
  • Created with photomosaic, image-tiling and virtual tours techniques, it offers a complete overview of the surrounding environment, a close bird's eye view over the entire engraved surface and a very powerful zoom. Acting as a strong tool for analysis, study and data sharing, it is at the same time useful for information purposes, preparation of visits and communication, easily convertible into tablets or smartphones apps.
