  • After having illustrated the different values of the concept of “city” in the ancient world, the contribution outlines first the development of the proto-urban area of Castelletto Ticino-Golasecca between the 7th and 6th centuries BC, also in relation to the close contacts with the Etruscans of upper Tuscany and of the Po Valley, and then its crisis (5th century BC) coinciding with a changed territorial structure, particularly focused on the development of land routes, of the Insubri world.
