Vecchi nemici e nuovi alleati : Karl Hass e la "guerra di spie" in Italia (1945-1954)

2022 - Franco Angeli

74-91 p.

  • In the late 1940s and the early 1950s, Italy was at the centre of an out and out "spy war" against international communism, a war declared by the secret services of the West. By analysing the case of Karl Hass, a former SS major and war criminal, the author shows how the secret services of Germany, Italy and the US "recycled" former National Socialist or Fascist spies within their own intelligence networks. Furthermore, as a consequence of his myriad links to various Western intelligence services, the figure of Hass functions as a common thread in the analysis, along which the author develops her own interpretation of the links between the Cic, Cia, Fwhd, Sifar and the Uar, all active in Italy at the start of the Cold War.
