Un antirazzismo commemorativo : la Shoah, i migranti e i demoni dell'analogia

  • Oggetto di questo contributo sono i caratteri dell'antirazzismo commemorativo, il suo sviluppo e le sue articolazioni in Italia dagli anni Ottanta ai nostri giorni. L'analisi muove da due assunti: 1. tanto il razzismo quanto l'antirazzismo sono esercizi di memoria; 2. la retorica del'mai più' - che ovviamente presuppone l'analogia storica –, è stata il più pervasivo dispositivo retorico antirazzista attivo in Italia negli ultimi quarant'anni. Il saggio propone un esercizio di storia del tempo presente. Dopo aver presentato, tramite alcuni esempi, le principali forme in cui tale dispositivo si manifesta, l'attenzione si orienta alla ricerca del punto di origine di quel sistema di rappresentazioni culturali. Si illustra come sia stato negli anni Ottanta, fase storica in cui l'Italia inizia a confrontarsi con nuovi fenomeni migratori e momento in cui - al contempo - la memoria della Shoah si va imponendo nell'industria culturale, che inizia a cristalizzarsi quel codice retorico antirazzista.   • This article deals with the characteristics of commemorative antiracism, its development and its articulations in Italy from the 1980s to the present day. The analysis moves from two assumptions: 1. both racism and antiracism are exercises of memory; 2. the 'never again' rhetoric - which obviously presupposes historical analogies - was the most pervasive antiracist cultural device active in Italy in the last forty years. After having presented, through some examples, the main forms through which commemorative antiracism manifests itself, attention turns to the point of origin of that system of cultural representations. The article illustrates how it was in the Eighties, a historical phase in which Italy begins to deal with new migratory phenomena and a moment in which - at the same time - the memory of the Shoah is imposing itself in the cultural industry, that such antiracist rhetorical code began to take shape.
