Una nuova Iside? : alcune riflessioni sull'unicum iconografico della brocca di Camarina

A bronze jug found off Camarina in 1999 has a medallion on the handle with the effigy of a woman holding an animal in her arms. If there are no particular doubts about the identity of the woman (it is the goddess Isis), the nature of the quadruped that she holdson her chest is not so clear, nor is its function. This essay aims to express some reflections on the meaning of the image of the medallion, which has no parallel in the Isiac representations of the Hellenisticand Imperial age, and on the context of origin of the jug.
