Machiavelli e Sturzo, un confronto a distanza : divisi in tutto, ma non troppo
270-305 p.
- The relation Sturzo - Machiavelli is anything but unadvisable. It goes through the Christian skepticism of Augustinian origins. On one side Machiavelli took the origin of the power of metaphysics away from sacredness and brought it back to physics of politics; he led the Catholic movement in the logic of state institution, accepting the irreversibility of the unitary process of the Risorgimento State. Machiavelli takes from Saint Augustine the concept of adiaphoral essence of the structure of the State, so as to transmit to Sturzo the politic realism concerning the impossibility of realizing the Christian State in the earthly city. There is an Augustinian phylum which links the two scientists of politics, despite all the common thoughts on the irreligiosity of the Florentine chancellor. [Publisher's text].
