Ricasoli e l'unificazione amministrativa : dall'automismo al centralismo

2014 - Editoriale Scientifica

26-68 p.

  • The essay analyzes the role played by the Ricasoli during the process of the Italian unification. The author pays particular attention to the institution of the Tuscan Lieutenancy, to the relationship between Cavour and Ricasoli and to the first legislation to unify the administrative systems. The research, keeping in mind this general framework and the existing conflicts within the liberal ruling class, helps to clarify some of the reasons that led the Tuscan statesman to pass from autonomism to the centralized system, adopted by his first government in the autumn of 1861. The topic, so far not discussed in detail by historians, is part of the discussions launched on the occasion of the celebrations of the 150 years of the laws on administrative unification, promulgated in 1865.
