513-546 p.

  • Antonino Paternò Castello, marquis of San Giuliano, was mayor of Catania, member of the Italian Parliament for seven legislatures, ambassador and Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Italy. His political activity lasted for thirty years marking a large field of analysis and ranging between different sectors and areas of historiography. The research aimed to focus on San Giuliano's political conception since the beginning of his political commitment. Marquis of San Giuliano had a coherent political thought, a pragmatic political action and a liberal character. Between the 19th and 20th centuries, in a political contest characterized by new and growing needs and colonial conquests, Antonino Paternò Castello matured an overview of national and international scenarios.
