Carlo Cattaneo, le Notizie e i naturalisti lombardi : alcune riflessioni

  • Il saggio colloca il progetto delle Notizie naturali e civili su la Lombardia di Carlo Cattaneo nel contesto delle scienze naturali degli anni Trenta e Quaranta a Milano e in Lombardia, concentrandosi sui botanici, geologi, zoologi e mineralogisti che presero parte alla stesura delle Notizie, da Vincenzo Cesati a Giuseppe Balsamo Crivelli, dai fratelli Antonio e Giambattista Villa a Giulio Curioni. Il progetto cattaneano è messo in relazione con alcune importanti istituzioni scientifiche di Milano del tempo, tra cui il Museo civico di storia naturale di Milano, fondato nel 1838 per volontà di Giuseppe De Cristoforis e di Giorgio Jan, di cui si ricostruiscono brevemente le fasi iniziali di progettazione e fondazione.   • The essay places the project of the Notizie naturali e civili su la Lombardia of Carlo Cattaneo in the context of the natural sciences of the 1830s and 1840s in Milan and Lombardy, focusing on those botanists, geologists, zoologists and mineralogists, who contributed to the Notizie, from Vincenzo Cesati to Giuseppe Balsamo Crivelli, from the brothers Antonio and Giambattista Villa to Giulio Curioni. Cattaneo's project is analyzed in relation to relevant scientific institutions of Milan of the time, such as, among the others, the civic Museum of Natural History of Milan, founded in 1838 thanks to Giuseppe De Cristoforis and Giorgio Jan.
