Editoriale : coltivare la terra, costruire un nuovo umanesimo : il ruolo dell'agricoltura

  • Nella sua recente enciclica Laudato si' (2015), Papa Francesco conferisce alla comunità degli esseri umani un nuovo compito, quello di salvare la terra da una sua distruzione per mano stessa dell'uomo. Il modello di sviluppo economico e sociale dominante appare sbagliato nei suoi stessi fondamenti. In particolare è sbagliato pensare che il nostro pianeta, l'unico abitabile, possa essere sfruttato in modo illimitato e che le sue risorse siano inesauribili. La finitezza materiale del pianeta è legata alle nozioni/proprietà fondamentali di entropia e irreversibilità, che suggeriscono la necessità e l'obiettivo di una nuova visione della cultura e della società.
  • Sulla finitezza fisica si innesta tuttavia il carattere infinito della creatività della natura e dell'inventività dell'uomo. In questo saggio mostriamo l'importanza scientifico-filosofica decisiva del pensiero complesso come chiave di lettura dei fenomeni naturali e sociali come chiave di lettura per capire e cambiare il mondo, e il nesso essenziale che esiste tra il pensiero complesso e la necessità di proporre un nuovo umanesimo fondato su una ricomposizione profonda della cultura umanistica e della cultura scientifica, della natura e dell'uomo.   • In its recent enciclica Laudato si' (2015), Papa Francesco assigns a new task to the community of persons, namely to save the earth from its destruction by people selves. The economical and social model of development appears to be fundamentally wrong. What is notably wrong is the idea that our planet, the sole to be inhabitable, can be indefinitely exploited and that its resources are endless. In reality, the material finiteness of our planet is deeply linked to the notions/properties of entropy and irreversibility, which suggest the necessity and the goal of realizing a new vision of cultures and societies. Yet, the physical finiteness of our world and body is merged with the infinite character of the creativity of nature and the human inventiveness.
  • In this paper, we stress the scientific and philosophical importance of complexity theory as a key tool for the understanding of natural and social phenomena, as well as the essential link between the thought of complexity and the idea of an innovative humanism grounded upon a new synthesis that would combine the scientific culture the humanistic culture, the nature with the humankind.
