The Conference gave rise to reflections made from different points of view, also due to the variety of professionals involved. Following the outline of the chapters in the Theory of Restoration, some of the most topical themes in the field of conservation were investigated in the light of Brandi's thought: material, also in comparison with scientific innovation and the so-called green materials; the relationship between structure and appearance; the concept of potential unity and the problem of the lacuna, also with respect to the expectations of today's image-conscious society; time, from the relationship with historical restorations to that with living artists; intervention, according to the historical case and the aesthetic case, with insights into the connection with communities; space, from preventive restoration to planned conservation, also in the context of ecological transition; and finally, a reflection on how Brandi's thought was received abroad.
