Sciacca interprete dell'antinomia orteghiana tra ragione e vita
P. 439-448
This article examines Michele Federico Sciacca's meticulous interpretative analysis of the complex development of José Ortega y Gasset's vital reason, a philosopher representative of the modern and secular character of the Iberian nation. Particular attention is given to Sciacca's critical reflections on Ortega's attempt to resolve the antinomy between pure reason and vital impulse. The aim is to show how even a few precise and well-contextualized reflective fragments can reignite or broaden today's philosophical dialogue on the importance of a metaphysica perennis.
According to Sciacca - echoing the Rosminian spirit - what emerges is "the need for that philosophical boldness, that good courage which frees Philosophyfrom useless restrictions and unjust constraints", both for the "love of truth" and for "to live face to face with the profound reality of contemporary life" [Publisher's Text].
