Sciacca e l'oscuramento dell'intelligenza
P. 425-438
This contribution freely takes up the contents of a text by M.F. Sciacca entitled L'oscuramento dell'intelligenza (1970), focusing in particular on its firstpart. "Obscuration" has as its object being, or rather the transcendental infinite, which is the appropriate object of intelligence and desire. In this sense, obscuration generates "stupidity". Stupidity should be understood - in this context - as that nihilistic gaze that reduces the ontological horizon to the series of its contents (being to the types of entities). The cultural organisation of stupidity results in reductionism, which characterises Occidentalism: the systematic degeneration of Western culture.
Overcoming obscuration cannot be produced by the Enlightenment attitude, as Aufklärung itself is an expression of obscuration. Such an overcoming can only begin with an adequate reconstitution of the metaphysics of creation (the only one that saves the ontological modalities of the infinite and the finite) and an organic inclusion within the framework of creation, of the valid results that reductionist culture itself has acquired [Publisher's Text].
