  • L'autrice partendo dall'esame degli albarelli cinquecenteschi di produzione italiana, e siciliana in particolare, sopravvissuti nelle collezioni siciliane pubbliche e private ripercorre il tema del ritratto di personaggi immaginari o storici presente in essi e, sulla scorta della storiografia esistente, traccia una linea di collegamento tra gli stilemi decorativi della maiolica e i coevi moduli rappresentativi delle incisioni e delle illustrazioni dei libri a stampa della seconda metà del XVI secolo.   • Starting from the examination of Italian sixteenth-century albarelli surviving in Sicilian public and private collections, the author traces the theme of portraiture by analyzing the imaginary or historical characters represented in them. On the basis of existing historiography, a line is drawn between the decorative stylistic elements of majolica and the coeval modules representing the engravings and illustrations of the printed books of the second half of the 16th century.
