  • Il saggio intende portare l'attenzione sulla natura dell'attuale crisi europea, vista in particolare attraverso un punto di osservazione privilegiato e informato come quello offerto dai discorsi annuali sullo stato dell'Unione da parte dei Presidenti in carica della Commissione europea. Giungendo a fissarne come principale punto di ricaduta quello rappresentato dallo scarto, in termini di coerenza e credibilità, tra "processo" e "progetto" di unificazione, a fronte di un dissenso crescente da parte dei cittadini nei riguardi dell'attuale realtà (specie politico-istituzionale) europea. Per poi soffermarsi a considerare anomalie, paradossi e criticità riguardo al modo in cui l'Unione (già Comunità) si è venuta configurando, dal lato sia dei metodi di azione che del rapporto tra metodo e potere decisionale.
  • Infine concentrandosi sui nodi da sciogliere per dare all'Unione un assetto più coerente e riconoscibile di comunità politica e di diritto, rispettosa dei suoi stessi valori, principi e obiettivi fondamentali. [Testo dell'editore]
  • The essay aims to bring attention to the nature of the present European crisis, seen in particular through a vantage and informed observation point as that one offered by the annual State of the Union speeches by the Presidents in office of the European Commission. Coming to fix as the main point of relapse the one represented by the gap, in terms of consistency and credibility, between "process" and "project" of unification, in the face of a growing dissent by citizens with regard to the current (especially political-institutional) European reality. Then pausing to consider anomalies, paradoxes and problems concerning the way in which the Union (formerly Community) came to take shape, on the side of both the methods of action and the relationship between decision-making method and decision-making power.
