La Philosophy for Community
88-98 p.
The challenge presented by complexity requires new interpretative paradigms and philosophy. A meeting of different epistemological perspectives is needed to understand both social transformation and personal growth. Lipman designed the Philosophy for Children curriculum to 'teach thinking' from childhood onwards. Today, the relentless speed of change disorientates people and requires continuous training. The methodology of P4C as Philosophy for Community is a valuable addition to Lifelong Learning. A brief description of the methodology - based on the community of inquiry and developed using philosophical dialogue, starting by questioning important issues - will allow us to understand how this multidimensional educational model can orientate the educative process towards the global development of a person and then on to awareness.
