Rassegnazione : storia del mondo come tribunale del mondo
P. 103-118
This study explores Hegel's conception of “world history as the world's court of judgement” and its reference to Schiller's poem Resignation. Hegel adopts Schiller's theme of resignation to investigate the meaning of freedom and truth within the theoretical framework of universal history. The central hypothesis is that Hegel perceives a certain resignation as necessary both for the theoretical understanding of the world's truth and for the ethical predisposition towards a concrete conception of freedom. The analysis concludes with an examination of Hegel's theory of war, in which states assert and recognize themselves reciprocally as rational entities [Publisher's text].
