The first meeting between Capitini and Tenerini took place in 1937, when the latter was still a student and the former was already active in the anti-fascist conspiracy. Tenerini's communist orientation immediately intersected with Capitini's project of religious renewal, inspired by the principle of nonviolence and politically oriented towards a liberal socialist vision. Their dialogue, which began during the anti-fascist struggle and extended through the first twenty years of the Republic's history, gradually brought their positions closer together, until they established an intense collaboration [Publisher's Text].
