Dal Pra e la filosofia di Gramsci : note su una "traduzione" senza "traducibilità"

2024 - Franco Angeli

P. 132-152

  • Dal Pra and Gramsci's Philosophy. Notes on a «Translation» Without «Translatability». The article critically reconstructs Mario Dal Pra's approach to Gramsci's thought. By paying attention to unpublished materials, the Author remarks on four salient moments in this dialogue: the reflection on the possibilities and limitations of the philosophy of praxis for the elaboration of a transcendentalism of praxis, from the late 1940s to the early 1950s;; the critique of historicism and the appreciation of anti-historicist elements in Gramscian Marxism, during the 1960s;; the examination of historical materialism as a criterion of philosophical historiography, during the 1970s;; and the concluding judgment on the meaning and value of Gramscism for an updated philosophical historiography and for a renewal of Marxist political theory, from the late 1970s to the early 1980s.
  • The Author concludes that Dal Pra anticipated current Gramscian scholarship by underlining the philosophical topics in Prison Notebooks, but he was unable to understand the importance of the translatability of languages for Gramsci's formulation of the relationship between theory and practice, truth and politics.
