Il contesto storico teologico delle Definitiones ut dicitur Caelestii

The present article analyses the historical and theological context of Caelestius' Definitiones, a short Pelagian booklet countered by Augustine in De perfectione iustitiae hominis. The work is divided into two main sections: in the first one, several theological reasonings aim to show the possibility for human beings to live a sinless life, while the second one consists of a florilegium of Scriptural quotations. Through a comparison with a relevant number of literary sources produced during the Pelagian controversy, the points of contact and unique features of the Definitiones will be highlighted [Publisher's text]
