Functional materials have held a very prominent position in the various high-tech areas. Such materials are not being classified on the basis of their origin, nature of creating or processing techniques but are classified on the basis of the functions they can perform. The International Conference on Functional Materials and Metallurgy (ICFMM 2016, August 3-5, 2016, Shanghai, China) was devoted to the study of the properties and methods of application the modern functional materials.
