  • The editors present the topics on which they have requested contributions to the Dossier. Starting from the observation that contemporary Western societies are characterized by the tendency to differentiate in family configurations, they show that "new" family forms have become increasingly numerous and widespread, in particular nonmarital cohabitation, recomposed families and homoparental families. Through the eight collected contributions that are summarized here, the dossier proposes to reflect on these transformations, to describe and possibly interpret the path towards constructing rules and recognizing rights for the people involved in new family practices and configurations, as well as in new parenting and filiation relationships.
