Spazi, forme e tempi della deindustrializzazione

2020 - Franco Angeli

15-45 p.

  • In November 2018 the Association "Amici di Passato e Presente" (Apep) organized a seminar at the University of Naples devoted to the deindustralization process, a rather neglected topic in Italian public debate. Starting from the methodological introduction by Roberta Garruccio, who pointed out how the processual dimension of deindustrialization reflects the manifold meanings of the concept itself, the seminar invited a comparison between case studies in the South and North of Italy, those of Milan (Giorgio Bigatti), Turin (Stefano Musso), Naples (Gabriella Corona and Stefano Parisi), Piombino (Annalisa Tonarelli) and Torre Annunziata, Naples (Enrica Morlicchio).
  • The debate highlighted many points in common in different areas of the country: the fragility of the cultural heritage of the industrial era, the weak perception of the urban transformation and social impact of deindustrialization, the lack of memory of the factories, the controversial relationship between the latter and the context, both in terms of social and environmental impact.
