  • L'Autrice propone riflessioni che, a partire dalla cronicità nella malattia mentale, la portano a riflettere sulle conseguenze di essa sugli operatori della salute mentale e sulle organizzazioni in cui lavorano. I vissuti dei malati e dei familiari si amplificano in senso negativo nella misura in cui mancano luoghi di elaborazione e contenimento degli aspetti emotivi. Alcuni interventi vanno in questa direzione anche se molto resta da fare. Il Servizio Pubblico può assumere il governo di questi processi se accetta la consapevolezza che il contesto sociale è cambiato, e che a lui spetta diventare attivatore, con le comunità locali, di risorse da valorizzare. La comunità può rispondere in modo collaborativo a patto che sia riconosciuta la necessità che venga sostenuta con vari strumenti, non ultimi i mass media. [Publishers' text].
  • I have tried to propose some reasoning that would, starting from chronicity in mental illness, lead me to reflect on it and on the immobility of the operators with their own professions and on the chronicity of the organizations. The experiences of the sick and their relatives are amplified in negative sense, in so far as places of elaboration and containment of emotional aspects are missing. Only a few interventions go into this direction but much remains to be done. The Public Service can take over the government of these processes only if it accepts that the social context has changed. The Public Service has to become an activator with the local communities of resources to be exploited. The community can respond collaboratively if it's recognized the necessity of an external guide, and it has to be supported with various tools, mass media included. [Publishers' text].
