  • Il sistema immunitario inizia la sua ontogenesi in utero dove, per le fisiologiche necessità della gravidanza, si sviluppa secondo un profilo squilibrato in senso Th2, utile al corretto compimento della medesima e ad una nascita a termine. Una serie di fattori - relativi alla gravidanza, al tempo di gestazione, alle modalità del parto, al tipo di allattamento, al legame di attaccamento che si costruisce tra madre e bambino, all'esposizione a inquinanti, farmaci e ad alcuni vaccini, tramite meccanismi epigenetici - condiziona lo sviluppo del sistema immunitario, che raggiungerà caratteristiche simile a quelle dell'adulto solo alla fine dell'adolescenza. Il corretto funzionamento del sistema immunitario da adulto è largamente dipendente dall'assetto che esso acquisisce nelle prime fasi della vita. [Testo dell'editore].
  • The immune system begins its ontogeny in uterus where, due to the physiological necessities of pregnancy, it develops according to an unbalanced Th2 profile, useful for the correct fulfilment of the same pregnancy. A series of factors - related to pregnancy, the time of gestation, the modalities of delivery, the type of feeding (breast or bottle), the bond of attachment that is built between mother and child, exposure to pollutants, drugs and some vaccines, through epigenetic mechanisms - influences the development of the immune system, which will reach characteristics similar to those of the adult only at the end of adolescence. The proper functioning of the adult immune system is largely dependent on the organization it acquires in the early stages of life. [Publishers' text].
