Vivere in un ambiente vago? Alcune riflessioni tra filosofia e antropologia
41-54 p.
In this article, I would like to explore one aspect of metaphysical pluralism proposed by Portuguese anthropologist João de PinaCabral, namely vagueness. While Pina Cabral draws inspiration mainly from James, I would like to show how Peirce's logic of vagueness allows us to highlight decisive aspects of metaphysical pluralism. Furthermore, the idea that the concepts available to anthropologists are vague allows us, in my opinion, to account for some of Viveiros de Castro's crucial concerns regarding encounters with the other. In the conclusions, however, I briefly mention some potentially problematic aspects of the idea that we live in an inherently vague environment. [Publisher's text]
