Trent'anni dopo : le Scienze della Comunicazione in Italia

2024 - Franco Angeli

9-16 p.

Thirty years after the establishment of the first-degree programs in Communication Studies in Italy, the journal Sociology of Communication has initiated a reflection on this multidisciplinary field, recognizing that the launch of these programs marked a significant moment within a broader and longer process of institutionalization and recognition of communication as an object of study acknowledging its relevance, specificity, and autonomy. The journal's Steering Committee has fostered a dialogue among scholars who have played a central role in the history of Communication Sciences in Italy. This special issue brings together contributions from Alberto Marinelli (Sapienza University of Rome) and Anna Maria Lorusso (University of Bologna), following a seminar held in April 2024.

It also includes a republished text by Fausto Colombo (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan) on media studies in Italy, along with a conversation between Lella Mazzoli, Roberta Bartoletti, and Giovanni Boccia Artieri on the relationship between the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, the journal, and the broader field of communication studies in Italy, as well as the journal's positioning and role in this historical trajectory.
