Minimi e primalità : ontologie della vita a confronto
P. 175-202
The essay aims to highlight the polysemic nature of the Renaissance idea of vitalism, starting with the analysis of two very different metaphysical systems that share a desire to account for natural life: those of Giordano Bruno and Tommaso Campanella. Emphasis is also placed on a comparison between Bruno's concept of the minimum and the natural philosophy of Pietro Pomponazzi and Girolamo Fracastoro. Finally, the conclusion discusses Leibniz' concept of entelechia prima. [Publisher's text]
