  • Questo saggio ha l'obiettivo di valutare fino a che punto la Brexit può essere interpretata come un'eredità del thatcherismo. Il primo paragrafo spiega quale sia il posto di Margaret Thatcher all'interno del variegato fenomeno dell'euroscetticismo britannico. Il secondo paragrafo analizza la composizione delle leadership dei principali gruppi pro-Brexit, al fine di valutare se le rispettive storie politiche e motivazioni possono essere descritte come thatcheriane. Il terzo paragrafo si focalizza sulla distribuzione geografica del voto pro-Brexit e sui contesti socio-economici nei quali esso è stato maggioritario, al fine di valutare se e fino a che punto l'elettorato pro-Brexit possa essere definito thatcheriano. Infine, il quarto paragrafo vaglia se e fino a che punto le motivazioni dell'elettorato pro-Brexit possano essere identificate come thatcheriane. Tutto ciò consentirà di valutare a pieno quale sia la corretta prospettiva storica dalla quale leggere la Brexit. [Testo dell'editore].
  • This essay aims at assessing to what extent Brexit can be seen as a le-gacy of Thatcherism. The first section will explain what is Margaret Thatcher's peculiar place in the very heterogeneous phenomenon of Brit-ish Euroscepticism. The second section will analyse the leaderships com-position of the main pro-Brexit groups, in order to assess if their political histories as well as their motivations to sustain Brexit can be described as Thatcherite. By drawing data from the many post-vote analysis, the third section will discuss the geographical distribution of the Brexiteer voters as well as the socio-economic contexts in which they prevailed. This will al-low to assess if and to what extent Brexiteer voters can be considered as Thatcherite. Finally, the fourth section will assess if and to what extent Brexiteers motivations can be labelled as Thatcherite. All this will allow to fully assess the correct historical perspective from which to read the Brexit phenomenon. [Publisher's text].
