Il cielo stellato e le categorie : la natura in Kant

- Kant looks at nature from two perspectives. One is wonder at the vision of the starry sky, an image that appears in Kant's works right from the beginning. The other is knowledge based on categories, that is in concepts of objects, whereby the subject places himself in front of nature. These categories are indissolubly interwoven, so that the subject, on the one hand, applies the principle of sufficient reason and the law of causality to the interpretation and systematic categorization of natural phenomena, on the other, opens himself to the immense spectacle that nature offers him, which allows him to feel part of a spiritual world that transcends chronospatiality. The sentiment of beauty permeates Kant's approach and is closely connected to that of full happiness and that of the freedom of the moral world harmonized with the natural world. [Publisher's text]
