  • Cet ouvrage retrace les différentes phases de transformation d'une maison à Thasos entre le IIIe et le début du VIIe siècle, rythmées par l'évolution du site et de l'histoire : montée de la nappe phréatique, tremblement de terre, fin du paganisme et essor du christianisme. Aucune rupture apparente cependant, mais une récupération heureuse d'une construction romaine et des mosaïques - préservées malgré la montée de l'eau et leur iconographie paienne - et l'installation dans le péristyle d'un nymphée à deux niveaux de colonnes. Ce monument, dont nous proposons une reconstitution complète, représente la seule copie connue - presque une maquette - des nymphées urbains qui se répandirent dans les villes romaines d'Orient jusqu'à Constantinople et furent, dans la mesure du possible, entretenus et restaurés jusqu'au VIIe siècle.   • This work recounts the different phases in the transformation of a house in Thasos between the third and the beginning of the seventh century, as shaped by the evolution of the site and of history, including the rising water table, earthquake, end of paganism and the rise of Christianity. There appears to have been no interruption, but rather the fortunate salvage of a Roman building and mosaics - preserved in spite of the rising water and their pagan iconography - and the construction in the peristyle of a nymphaeum with columns on two levels. This monument, of which here is offered a complete reconstruction, is the only known copy (almost a replica) of the urban nymphaea that were common in the Roman towns of the East as far as Constantinopole and were (as far as was possible) maintained and restored until the seventh century.
