Da Ventimiglia a Nonantola (1958-1997) : il "viaggio in Italia" di Klaus Voigt : un ricordo

  • L'autore ricorda per Mondo Contemporaneo lo storico tedesco Klaus Voigt, scomparso a Berlino il 21 settembre 2021, suo sincero amico. Internazionalmente noto per le ricerche sull'Esilio tedesco, in Italia Voigt è molto conosciuto anche per aver ricostruito la storia dei ragazzi di Villa Emma, un gruppo di adolescenti ebrei dell'Europa centro-orientale che nel 1942, dopo un'incredibile peregrinazione, approdò a Nonantola, nel modenese. Era nato a Berlino il 2 novembre 1938 e - partito dalla storia medievale - si era dedicato poi allo studio dell'idea di unione europea. E, in età più matura, a quello dei profughi (soprattutto ebrei) dalla Germania nazionalsocialista. Il suo lavoro più noto è Zuflucht auf Widerruf (in italiano, Il rifugio precario). Il tema del rapporto con l'Italia è al centro della conversazione amichevole tra Capogreco e Voigt, del 2016, pubblicata qui per la prima volta. Seppure concluso piuttosto bruscamente, per un imprevisto, il racconto di Voigt è molto fresco e spontaneo.

  • The Author remembers for Mondo Contemporaneo the German historian Klaus Voigt, his sincere friend, who disappeared in Berlin on 21 September 2021. Inter-nationally known for his research on German Exile, Voigt is well-known in Italy also to have rebuilt the story of the boys of Villa Emma, a group of Jews teen-agers from Central-Eastern Europe who in 1942, after an amazing peregrination, landed in Nonantola, a town close to Modena. He was born in Berlin on 2 Novem-ber 1938 and - starting from medieval history - he dedicated then to the study of the idea of European union. And, in more mature age, to the study of refugees (expecially Jews) coming from National Socialist Germany. His most known work is Zuflucht auf Widerruf (The precarious shelter).The topic of the relationship with Italy is at the center of the friendly conversation between Capogreco and Voigt, of 2016, published here for the first time. Despite being closed rather abruptly, for an unexpected, the tale of Voigt is very fresh and spontaneous.
